Reconnecting a community - A new website for Hawkhill Community Association

BACKGROUND & PROBLEM

As part of a wider project to establish a new and succinct brand identity for Hawkhill Community Association, it was essential that the brand was reflected online. Hawkhill Community Centre’s website had been offline for a long time, leaving a major gap in its ability to communicate with the public and showcase the work and projects progressing at the centre. Without a functioning site, the centre couldn’t share updates, promote events, or provide essential information to the community.

As the centre continued to deliver against its business plan, it was essential that it benefited from a functional, usable, and engaging digital touchpoint to help meet its goals.

CONTEXT AND KEY CHALLENGES

The centre needed a modern, accessible website that could serve as a central hub for information and engagement, featuring the new branding developed with the studio.

Challenges included:

  • No active website or digital infrastructure

  • Limited internal capacity to manage web content

  • Difficulty reaching audiences and service users

  • Room to improve integration with social media and marketing efforts

GOALS & SUCCESS METRICS

The website project aimed to:

  • Design and launch a user-friendly, mobile-responsive website

  • Feature the new branding across the site, underpinned by the guidelines, tone of voice, and brand strategy developed

  • Provide easy access to information and support services

Success was measured by:

  • Website traffic and user engagement post-launch

  • Positive feedback from community members

  • Increased enquiries and participation in centre activities

OUTCOMES

The new website was a game-changer. It provided a clear, welcoming digital front door to the centre, with simple, easy-to-understand navigation and structured information. Community members could now easily find details on services, learn more about the team and the association’s work, book resources, and send enquiries.

“Our website had been down for ages, and we had no idea where to begin. Doug quickly got us back on track — refreshing our branding and creating a fantastic new logo and strapline. He also helped us develop a clear social media and marketing strategy, going above and beyond his remit. We’re delighted with the results and would happily recommend Doug to anyone looking for expert, friendly support in navigating the digital world.”
